WUWHS Congress in Abu Dhabi

When the World Union of Wound Healing Societies (WUWHS) had to take the brave decision in February 2020 to postpone the four-yearly WUWHS Congress, little did we know that it would be two years before it could be safely held. Suddenly the time is upon us, with the congress due to start on 1 March 2022. A fantastic five-day congress of sharing and learning from each other is ahead in Abu Dhabi, the beautiful capital city of the United Arab Emirates (UAE).

For me it is a dream come true, not only as the first woman, but also the first nurse to lead this prestigious organisation, and I have the honour of this congress taking place in the Middle East region—another first, since the inception of WUWHS in 2000. Despite many cultural differences, we have so much to learn from each other, and once we start to share our experiences, we quickly realise just how powerful these moments are. Simply by sitting together and relaying how we do things, we bridge divides and come to know that what may seem trivial to one person, may just be the answer for another to their own seemingly insurmountable problem. All while simply sharing a cup of coffee or a meal together.
