Bid from La Asociación Mexicana para el Cuidado Integral y Cicatrización de Heridas A.C. and the Confederación Multidisciplinaria Latinoamericana de Heridas Estomas e Incontinencia
Abstract
La Asociación Mexicana para el Cuidado Integral y Cicatrización de Heridas A.C. (AMCICHAC) and the Confederación Multidisciplinaria Latinoamericana de Heridas Estomas e Incontinencia (COMLHEI) set out their bid for the WUWHS 2026 Congress to be held in Mexico City, Mexico.
Because I consider that Mexico and Latin America are a strong community in the world of wound treatment. To host a congress of such relevance as the WUWHS is an opportunity to allow many Latinos who cannot easily access other continents to participate. Since financial resources limit access to this type of first-world congress, Mexico City constitutes a financially accessible region for most of the countries of the American continent, as well as for the rest of the world. I also have the support of the AMCICHAC and COMLHEI societies that bring together a large group of professionals, distributed throughout Mexico and Latin America, who wish to commit to and have the honour of commitment attending the WUWHS 2026 Congress.
Mexico began its history in the specialised management of wounds, providing comprehensive and multidisciplinary care, more than 30 years ago. The individual medical units that make up the Mexican health system have evolved in such a way that, currently, there is a national policy aimed at making access to advanced wound management available to all Mexicans. This will be achieved by instituting, in different primary and specialist care units, specific wound care modules that are in the process of standardisation. Currently, there is a total of approximately 600 multidisciplinary wound care clinics throughout the Mexican Republic, and the health professionals who work there are eager to attend an event such as the WUWHS.
