Bid from the Association for the Advancement of Wound Care

01 March 2022

Abstract

The Association for the Advancement of Wound Care sets out its bid for the WUWHS 2026 Congress to be held in Chicago, Illinois, US.

The Association for the Advancement of Wound Care (AAWC) chose to host the WUWHS 2026 Congress because we deeply believe we have the skills and resources to assemble a global team that will collectively work to eliminate wound care deserts by building capacity to fund underserved individuals and societies to enhance wound care knowledge and delivery with ecological and ethical sustainability.

AAWC was incorporated in 1995 with the mission to advance the care of patients with, and at-risk for, wounds. We were formed out of a recognition that wound care requires a multitude of disciplines to provide the best care to patients with a wound. As the largest US-based multidisciplinary organisation of clinicians and researchers specialised in wound care, our organisation is dedicated to providing resources and evidence-based education related to clinical care, research, professional development and public policy.

Globally, wound care providers have similar needs. Through our collaborations with international organisations, practitioners and researchers, it is increasingly apparent that to best equip wound care practitioners and researchers to care for patients with a wound, we must learn from each other to advance wound management today. To effect lasting advances, the global community must look to identify inequities in wound education, management and delivery of care.
